c50plus - Please, please, please sell that HD and get yourself a GoldWing.
Maybe those guys will have the patience to put up with your BS. Mine has run completely out. Adios to you and your Wing.
You ride it hard and ride it lot ESP is win win,if I didn't have it I wouldn't be riding a Harley. Any one who doesn't get on it will advise you otherwise.
Glad it paid off for you. I have 15,000 miles on my 08 purchased in late 08 and have only had to do normal maintenance items. I bet that it wouldn't be needed or if it was between myself and my friends we'd have the talent to diagnose and fix most issues.
I see lot's of old Harleys and Wings out there so whatever trips your trigger. In my mind though one bad apple doesn't necessarily damage the whole barrell.
I am new to this forum, and just as new to the bagger I have. I have contemplated getting the EWP and most likely will when I can found out who offers the most user friendly plan.
My decision was made easier by what I have read on this forum.
Many many post I have read about failures of now out sourced to china bearings, and compensator failures.
Many threads have been started about the slipping in quality of the once all american built harley, which if I read right is out sourcing many parts to other countries.
Still we dont know where the Co. is going to land when they break it apart and bid out parts and production. It looks like it will become the typical american scenario you better have something to cover your a$$.
Many times I have heard the slogan CYA.
I would hate to gamble on something that I have no control over especially since so many on this forum agree that the once indestrutable harley is quickly fading into the average consumer product.
I took a good hard look at them. While not unique to Goldwings, wobble seems to be a problem with them. The biggest thing I ran across is that their tranny's seem to crap out and run around $3K to fix. The '01 to '03's had frame problems. People like to hold them up as the perfect bike, but like everything mechanical and with wheels, they can have problems too.
After I took a long hard look at them, I decided they were a no go.
I've lost track of how many times mine has had warranty service.
Only one really serious one-a "primary bearing"(whatever that is). It was making a "whirring" noise in the primary when I would let the clutch out in neutral while idling and quiet back down when I pulled the clutch back in. I'm thinking about getting the ESP. If it only covers engine/transmission, I probably won't bother with it.
Are quality bearings available to replace all the HD bearings?
$1000 for me to extend, I will do it when I get home, 09 with 35 + k maybe 40 k , I forget, but have had a lot of warranty items, I am sure I will have 70 k by end of next year so I think its a good bet.
