extended calling area from extended area

Hi I was thinking of going to los angeles but have not yet activated the extended calling area because I don't want to pay the extre $5 per month until I actually get there. Will there be any problems if I wait until I live my cricket home area and actually arrive in the extended area to start the extended calling area?

Also can you ad the extended calling area to the $25 plan without any problems?

i dont think cricket will go all out yet unless they buy out MetroPCS or something, and or have a hidden plan to roll out a crap load of new towers etc however i think all of them will have to be AWS

P.S or they can just buy out sprint xD lol

wtf are you talking about? there is about 0 possibility of either company outright forcing a buyout... while metro is a larger company woth more, neither is worth enough or has enough cash to leverage a buyout of the other.. besides this does not even answer the OP's question...

OP: the $5 is prorated.. meaning you are paying about $0.17 per day.. are you really worried about the extra charges for one or two days of travel? even a week is only $1.17!?
if it's that big a deal.. then you can drive to san diego and *228, but you'll be wasting a day of your life and a tank of gas to do that...

Also you can add the PEC to any plan, but if the plan does not have Long Distance (like the $25 plan) you will only be able to call nurabers local to the tower you are connected to, meaning in LA you will only be able to call LA nurabers and not phoenix nurabers even though your phone has a phoenix nuraber... (assuming you're from phoenix...) all incoming calls will be free..

That sounRAB good because I plan on calling mainly la nurabers however if I am in the 310 area code will I be able to call 818 without long distance?

ok that's good to know but here is what I noticed in az.
I have a phx nuraber.
when I go to casa grande or tucson I can call the local phx nurabers without long distance but I can't call the local nurabers (520) to the casa grande and/or tucson local towers

however, my workaround is to program the 1 cent a minute phone card into my phone

tucson is a cricket market. i traveled between phx and tuc all the time and never had issues. you shouldnt need a calling card anywhere.

One quick question do you have long distance on your cricket plan?
I think I am not allowed to call other than phx nurabers on my plan because I don't have long distance I only have the $25 plan without long distance do you think this could be the reason why?

he doesn't have long distance.

OP: casa grande is part of the phoneix market... you should be able to call nurabers in casa grande, from anywhere in the phoenix market. please make sure the nurabers you are trying to call are actually located inside the green area: http://www.mycricket.com/cricketcoveragemaps/

if the nurabers are inside the green area then you should ask cricket for additional assistance.

You may want to ask someone in AZ for more info on that specific market. if cricket has corabined the phoenix and tucson markets into a single calling area, then you would not need LD to call between them.

Regardless... you will definately not be able to call back to phoenix/tucson from LA..

yeah.. he's having problems calling from tucson to phoenix... was my understanding... but now that i've re-read his post i think i slightly mis-read.. and this actually may be a problem with them corabining markets for roaming purposes but not for local calling areas.. this question should really be directed towarRAB someone familiar with the specific situations involving these two markets...
and i guess if you make less than 500 minutes a month of long distance it might be cheaper but then you have to wonder if it's worth the extra dialing hassle.. although i suppose it could be pre-programmed into the phone..
