ExpressVu to remove "Plan糥" and "EuroNews" channels?

I would hope that if Bell offers more French HD channels that they would offer them in a completely seperate package then the english HD channels. Perhaps I may be wrong, but I'd assume many people in Quebec would not be interested in the english channels.

Agent Express V,

I'm pretty sure SRC-HD has been available on Bell since it launched in Winter of 2005 plus they have had french movies on Vu! as well.

To get the French HD you only need to suscribe to the theme pack the channel is part of. If you want Radio Canada you must have the base num

All the French channels in HD is the exact reason I'm leaving Rogers for Bell... There are actually people in Toronto who want more French channels too, so BigOrangeT, you're wrong... many people outside Quebec want both... :-)

The picture is much better on channel 147 RFO. I noticed a big improvement in the last 2 months. Not as blurry, not as dark. Almost as good as TV5.

It was not appearing on the Genesis brochure...but it did on the All in one brochure. It also appeared on the web site, but many clients do not use it. you had to have a seond LNBF (or Nimiq 2) to get the EuroNews. Lots of clients are unhappy about the lost of that channels, to a point that they added a special note that we can use if client calls about it. Bell is making stats about that.

The good ole position statements from BEV! What is BEV doing to satisfy the customer and provide the channels they want? Rogers on the other hand has taken many risks and look where it got them!

Rogers Cable vs BEV in terms of numbers of customers = Rogers
Number of Cellular subs = Rogers
Landline = Bell but Rogers is gaining
Internet = Rogers

Why cant BEV take risks like ROGERS and listen to what the customers want! CEO's at BEV other than Sabia are interested in their pay increase instead of offering what customers want! (my two cents)

It's a weird policy I must say, taking a decent channel off the air and only afterwards ask what customers think about the move. Rogers should be commended for adding more new channels quickly and retaining them. BEV has a lot to learn in that department. Nobody gives a **** about CBC-W in HD. Except for hockey no one that I know even watches the garbage CBC.

This is why they created that note... They are making stats about how many clients will call about it and complain. If the numbers are worth it they might try to get an arrangement with the channels

Bell doesn't need to drop SD channels on 82W to put more HD up there. They have room right now.

The note has been there for over 2 weeks...so before the channel was actually removed!

And lots of clients from the Western area do care about that CBC-W HD...maybe you personnaly don't, but not because you don't that everybody doesn't

I watch a lot of CBC, and have been hoping for awhile to be able to timeshift.

Shanghai, you may want to review your facts. For starters read this story http://www.digitalhome.ca/content/view/1759/206/ and see who is the Internet Leader AND Digital Television leader. Considering the Cable companies have been around much longer than the Satellite companies, Bell has done quite well in terms of total number of customers (likely all taken from Cable). Bell must have been offering something people wanted.

As to the future, who knows.

Well, let's not forget that ExpressVu is national and Shaw, Rogers, Videotron, etc are local providers. So, yes, ExpressVu has more digital TV customers than, say, Rogers; but not more than cable companies and certainly not nearly a fraction of the digital customers Rogers has in Rogers territory. The same applies to Shaw, Videotron, Cogeco, etc.

For Internet, Bell Sympatico mainly competes in Eastern Canada and particularly against Rogers, Videotron and Cogeco as far as cable Internet goes.

Not to knock Bell's performance, but their "leadership" in terms of subscriber counts is based on having national, or at least regional, territories which vastly exceed the companies you are comparing Bell against. If you compare territory for territory -- and Internet is a good case where both Bell and cable started at about the same time and had no regulatory advantages over each other -- cable won the war.

So, does anybody know the real reason why ExpressVu dumped Euronews? I don't buy that "no interest from viewers" explanation at all.

I hope that BEV monitors this site. EURONEWS was watched in our household daily - excellent perspective on news that you don't see in North America otherwise (balanced reporting, interesting local/world/cultural/environmental stories). I can understand removing some of the multilanguage feeds for Euronews, but they surely could have left the English language version of that chanel. There are so many garbage chanels that BEV offers that they could have kept this quality chanel.

The extra language feeds for EuroNews are, from a technical standpoint, virtually free. The video is the main bandwidth cost; the alternate language feeds hardly noticeable. EuroNews is a useful channel -- one video, 7 languages, a decidedly different perspective and focus than, oh, "fair and balanced" Fox News.

Sucks that they removed Euronews...

One video channel ONLY (just had 7 audio feeds .. that's all)

To make room for more HD content, etc??? :(
If they say that was the reason - then it's BS Story!

I think they just decided to dump it. :(

I was also disappointed when BEV canceled EuroNews; I was disappointed so much that it convinced me to finally cancel their service (BEV for condos, to be exact). If BEV customer reps are reading these posts, I think that my message is clear.

Yes, I agree with what has been said about the quality and the different perspective that EuroNews has. BBC is good but it is not a true 24 news channel and after all, it is subject to a goverment that has a lot to hide/spin nowadays. Viewership for EuroNews was probably not that small; I can think of many specialty channels which have putatively much narrower viewer base. And additionally, subjectively speaking, a lot of the channels taking up bandwidth are crap. Makes you think if the cancellation of this channel has anything to do with slow but persistent streamlining of the media outlets in NorthAmerica

Does anyone know if EuroNews is available on DishNetwork?
