Update for those of you that have Expressvu for condo service (VDSL) Bell is now installing HD receivers from Motorola. I know of at least a dozen installs to date. No PVR yet (maybe in the fall) but if you want your HDTV to look it's best this receiver is a must.

John;)

which programming is included with expressvu for condos? im looking at buying a place that has satellite included in the condo fees so im curious what packages that would be. im not sure if its this VDSL system or a traditional system.

Although I happen to like Rogers, I live in a Toronto downtown building which cannot have a satellite dish. I do know that VDSL is available in a couple of neighbouring buildings. When they reeach mine, I'll be checking it out. Are all 30 Bell HD channels available over VDSL on these boxes? on multiple TVs?

My building switched to EVFC in December 2004 and at the time they told me it would be less than a year before HDTV was available.

Fast forward to today and we still don't have it.

On the weekend I emailed Bell and got this response:

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it'll arrive this year...

EVFC programming info is available here: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/PrsShpTv_Vdsl_Chl_LandingFlash.page.page

Any word on PVR or VOD? I would miss all of these if my building switched.

OTOH, it's the HD content which is the certain deal breaker for me.

I have had expressvu for condos since june 2005 and I have been fed the song and dance about HD, its in testing, they are testing the RG3000 etc. I finally cut through all the crap and got the straight answer.

HD wont be available till 2008 at the earliest , thats right 2008. And PVR wont happen till then either. They are waiting on the new version of IPTV from microsoft. THere is a good bet that you wont see HD, or PVR till mid 2008. SO if you are like me and you bought that expensive HD TV. You need to look at Rogers. And if you want to verfiy this just call Bell.

I think it's time for BEV for Condos to get the boot.

I will be moving into one of these situations in March and I didn't plan on getting involved with the condo board until now. I'll do what I can to get BEV out and bring in the "other" bad guys.

See, TV can be a motivator and not just a time waster.
