Can anyone tell me if 5.1 audio is available with Expressvu for Condos? According to Bell it is but I've been unable to get anything but 2 channel audio (even on the music stations). I've got the Motorola RG2400 STB hooked up to my surround sound receiver using an optical audio cable but still only get stereo sound.

I'm not familiar with this offering, however, it's the channels that need to be DD5.1, since most service providers simply "pass" the audio signal, and there aren't that many. See:

What's available in DD5.1

The music stations are not DD5.1.

and im assuming your stb is 5.1 capable
alot of programming is not in 5.1, so that may be the case as well

The unit does no support Dolby 5.1, HD, PVR, VOD in the current incarnation.

See: http://www.bell.ca/shopping/100.details?tab=SPECS.

Neither has Bell formally announced support for any of these features for 2007.

SensualPoet, the box you indicated is the RG2200. The newer RG2400 does support 5.1 audio. Everyone I've spoken to at Bell has confirmed that 5.1 is available but no one has been able to explain why I'm not receiving it. I don't think anyone there knows what they're talking about.

Did you read the link in post 2? Do you get any of the channels that have DD5.1? The only channels that have DD5.1 are HD or TMN(SD). None of the (other) SD channels or the music channels have DD5.1.

Yes, I read the info. That's why I don't think that the Bell reps know what they're talking about. They say that 5.1 audio should be available on every channel.

richard061458 : Does the rg2400 have HD support? Are there component video outs or just composite/s-video/coax? Can you get anything other than RF coax on a second or third TV?

Thanks!

The BEV reps are wrong (so what else is new). My DD5.1 FAQs on various forums have been read over 10,000 times and no one has stated they're incorrect.

i've had expressvu for condos since launch. not sure what box i have but i can confirm here that i only recieve 5.1 audio on movies that it specifies are being broadcast with such a soundtrack.
