Expansion Card keeps getting "lost"

I have a T5 and have just bought a 1Gb ScanDisk Ultra II. As soon as I insert the card my T5 recognises it but after that I cant do anything with it. As soon as I try to move files to the card it gets "dropped". Popping the card out and reinserting makes it show up again, and I can even access it through files to see the folders that have been created on it.

Switching to Apps Launcher loses it again. If I launch Card Info, insert the card it recognises it and reports 968.1Mb free but if I try to rename it or format it again it gets lost.

I can write files to the card using drive mode and then access them once but when the file is closed again the card it lost.

I've tried a hard reset and using the card before restoring any of my data but no difference. Using my card reader on PC its fine & I've formatted the card on my PC (I cant format on the T5) to no avail

Please help :(

I'm going to cover the basics here because I don't see where you mentioned it: All SD Cards are "lockable" so that accidental deletion of data does not occur.

When looking at the card out of the slot - face towards you and the cut off corner in the upper right on the left hand side you'll see a slide lock. If this lock is in the down position - it's locked and you'll suffer the symptoms you've described.

If not - then I'd say it's a bad card.

No such simple solution I'm afraid. (dont think I would have been able to write to the card in drive mode, if locked would I? ;) )

The card seem to work fine in my card reader on my PC - are card readers more tolerant?

As after thought, I've formatted the card on my PC and the inserted it into my T5 and my T5 then creats the following FOLDERS/files on the card:

DCIM
AllAlbum.db
PALM
LAUNCHER

If I format the card as FAT32 I get an "Unrecognised Format" message - Would you like to format the external device? This will erase ALL data on this device? Clicking OK formats the card OK and then going to the Apps screen creates the folders mentioned above. But it still keeps getting lost.

Ive tried the card straigt after a hard reset so it cant be software conflicts. Could the card slot in my T5 be at fault? :(

It's possible but I tend to think the card itself is bad. Writing to the card is one thing - the card being able to allow it to be read is another matter.

The only sure fire way is to try another card and see if it's fine - then it's the Card otherwise it's the slot. Doesn't happen often for the slot to be bad but it's not impossible either.

Card's fail more often then the slots.
