Exorcist: The Beginning/Dominion

I finally got around to picking these two films up today, I decided to watch Beginning first and I have to say it's bloody atrocious, terrible movie.

People who have seen both please tell me Dominion is going to be better? I've read a bit and from what I can gather it is better, Ebert likes it.

Peoples opinions on here about the two movies?
 
I can't believe they made a whole film then decided to remake the whole bloody thing again knowing full well the first version was shite so how on earth did they think the second cheesier version would be any better and more importantly make any money at the cinema?!

Utter madness!

One positive though is Stellan Skarsgard as usual
 
Watched it today. I actually thought it was a fairly decent movie, has it's problems (naff looking cgi animals) but on the whole I liked it and well it's a million times better than Beginning.
 
I always thought Exorcist 3 didn't work as an Exorcist sequel although in its own right was a very good psychological horror.

iirc, William Peter Blatty didn't want it to be called Exorcist 3 and the slightly misplaced exorcism scene at the end was added afterwarRAB by the studio as they weren't happy with the finished movie (due to it being so unlike the original).

Anyway, I thought Dominion was better than the Beginning, but only marginally, they were both pretty terrible.

As for Exorcist 2, hammier than a Dr Who series finale.
