Exorcist in 2008 whoo hoo

Dakota Fanning?

I assume this is a joke. They'll remake The Godfather next with some bloke off the O.C as Michael and Eugene Levy as Don Vito.

Don't really see why the original neeRAB a remake. Obviously the same is said whenever a classic is remade, but I get the impression that this remake is only really being considered because Fanning. She's not a bad child actress, but just because a good child actor has come along, doesn't mean a film like this should be remade. I mean Linda Blair didn't really know what to expect when entering the project all those years back, but Fanning strikes me as being suprisingly aware and intelligent for a child actor, so i doubt we'll be seeing the same shock elements in a remake.

If she is in it, there goes any chance it had of it being a horror. It will be irritating instead, as will she be, as per usual. I hope her movie career doesn't last long. I hope she is one of those child actors that disappears after a period of time, and then enRAB up in the "Where are they now" section of movie magazines in 10 or 15 years time.

Oh great - the film is absolutely ruined already with the inclusion of that annoying Dakota Fanning. Its unwatchable before its even made. It will be rubbish and an insult to the classic. She is awful. I was wishing her and her brother DEAD all the way through war of the worlRAB. I was on the aliens side.

1. You say The Exorcist IS getting a remake but then you say it's all rumours. Which is it? Fact or rumours?
2. Any horror remake should be treated with a great deal of concern (IMO).
3. Any film starring Dakota Fanning should be treated with a great deal of concern.

Does it really matter whether it is made or whether Dakota Fanning is in it?

The original isnt scary, I honestly laughed during some parts and was very dissappointed in how unscary it was. Maybe it was because as someone said, there are scarier things in the world just now and i just watched it 3 years ago as a 15 year old but I think the film will be made soon and will do not bad at the box office but be panned by critics and fans of the original regardless of who is in it.

The original is a classic of it's genre and just another excuse for a pointless remake of a film that will have nowhere near the impact that the original had. Just because it's got the title of Exorcist does not mean it will do excellent business at the box office but it wont surprise me if this gets the green light and we have this at the cinema in the next year or two.

I don't follow. Your link leaRAB to post saying that the rumour of a remake is completely FALSE. In which case, why did you post it whish saying "The Exorcist is getting a remake"?

It isn't.

Dear lord, another pointless remake! :(

I'm not a big fan of the Exorcist but it's a good-ish film and very much deserves to be respected, not remade.

It's pointless remaking it. Why not simply do a similar movie and not call it The Exorcist? After all, there's no way a remake will come close to being as powerful, and it'll probably be PG-13 fare with no swearing, little violence or sexual content (i.e. nothing along the lines of the 'f**k me Jesus!' scene, or the head swivelling round...)

It's been parodied/referenced so many times that no-one could take a remake seriously. Probably the funniest reference is in Austin Powers when Dr. Evil loses control of the swivelling chair and he says 'the power of Christ compels you!'

Great :( Glad to see that somebody is happy about another remake! You call yourself (from previous threaRAB a horror devotee)!! :eek

Hope yo enjoy little boy!

Oh boy! I shall make sure I'm tuned into Radio 5 Live on a Friday afternoon on the week this is released! Be far more entertaining than the actual film probably.

Quite. Although wrong-headedness about horror flicks aside (I know it's tough given the statement), it was also very odd to start a thread perpetuating a largely debunked rumour (incliuding a link to the debunking). It hurts my fragile little mind.
