Hey all,
I have a Bell account with a 3100 that I got in 2003. Now, I have finally gotten my refurbished 9200 installed and it's working fine. See this thread for details on my installation: http://www.digitalhome.ca/forum/showthread.php?t=54861&page=22
Now I just need to activate it on my existing account and get a new smart card for the 9200. Now I'll need HD programming, as I haven't changed my programming since my 3100 was setup in 2003. I have a couple questions:
Background:
Today I pay $65.99 for the Ultimate 7, and a "system charge" of $5.99, and finally $3.60 in GST for a total of 75.58. So I have some movie channels and guess I have 7 theme packages. My statement also notes that my October bill will increase by $3/mo!
1) I'm pretty sure the Ultimate 7 package no longer exists, so I'm trying to figure out whether I can keep my costs where they are now, but still get HD. If I get the HD Extra or HD Essentials package, will I get the pricing indicated on the website, or is this for new customers only?
2) I own my 3100 but I have the $5.99 charge on my account for "System Charge". What is this? Is it a receiver charge - which I shouldn't have if I've owned my equipment for the last five years?
3) Is there going to be an extra charge just for having two receivers on my account when I add this 9200 receiver? If so, what will the extra charge be?
4) It sounds like I can sign-up for HD programming and still avoid having a contract? True?
5) My current promotion online offers 6 months free HD with a rental, but I'm not renting. Is there anything specific I should try to negotiate, or expect to be able to get, short of going to retention? I feel like I'm being charged more because I have an old program pack, and could potentially reduce my costs when I switch to something current.
6) Are the costs on the website accurate compared to what people are being charged on the bill? Just trying to avoid unexpected surprises. What would my bill be for the HD Extra package, for my 3100 and the 9200?
7) I'm aware that you generally have to sub to the SD channel to get a particular HD channel. The way they lay out the programming, it looks like I choose the package, then choose the SD theme packs, and then I will get the associate HD channels based on the channels included in the theme packs I selected. Is this right? Talk about confusing...
Thanks for your help.
