exercise and losing weight?

I know this type of question has been asked millions of times but really does anyone know an EFFECTIVE exercise/s that helps u lose lots of weight, im trying interval training is that good? i heard weight lifting is good for losing weight as the more muscle u have the more calories you burn however weight lifting also opens your appetite more and i tend to put on weight, is there another effective form of exercise at all?
