Exercise advice for 17 year old girl?

Hey! So I work out almost every day, I do the stair climber for 30-40 minutes. I do the cross country setting that builds and lowers the intensity a lot throughout the workout, so I get a good workout.
But i'm getting bored, so any ideas? Does running burn more calories than the stairclimber? Doesn't it hurt your kness/shins? Also, what's the best ab workout?
