I was a leader in a church a few years back. Whenever newcomers came, we would encourage them to be "baptised in the holy spirit". What I'd do was to get them to stand, raise their hands, close their eyes and to thank jesus over and over again.
Then some of us christians would start blabbering in tongues RIGHT INTO THEIR EARS and at the same time telling them to MOVE THEIR TONGUES.
Most of the time, the newcomers did start to blabber like us too in a few minutes. Of course on hindsight now, I know that they were just copying us or doing it out of stress and pressure from us. That said, there were some really stubborn ones who would NOT blabber and gave us weird stares while we tried to "baptise them in tongues".
Your thoughts? Had a similar experience?
