I need to know either stores I can go to or sites that will let me exchange a bassinet for a baby swing.

I had my baby shower recently and all the babies major family members got together to plan gifts so nobody got doubles. I thought it was great and really thoughtful. My hubby's parents got us this really cool playpen/ bassinet combo thing that grows with the kid and I really, really love it. And then my grandma got involved... I love her to death but she has a tendency to be very controlling. If you don't do it her way then you didn't do it the right way and when she looked at my registry and didn't see a bassinet (because it's attached to my awesome playpen) she wasn't happy. First she called my mom to try and get my password so she could add the things (including the bassinet) to my registry that she thinks I need. and then, after my mom and my moms boyfriend and my husband and me all told her I have a bassinet, she went and got me a bassinet anyway. I don't want to hurt her feeling and make her take it back. I just want my baby swing and most of the sites I'm finding are for exchanging clothes and toys but not really the major pricey stuff. Please help.

Tell her you already have one and take it back to the store where she brought it from they will gladly do an exchange.

Don't worry about being rude, she was rude first.

If you can find out where it was bought at (or if it is a common model, sold at Target / Wal-mart) you can usually take it back for store credit, even without a receipt (store credit given at the lowest recent sale price).

On the other hand - you might want to keep it. 1) You don't want to hurt Grandma, if you love her. and 2) the bassinet's on the playpens are usually not all that great, a regular bassinet will be much easier to move around from room to room, (they usually fit through doorways, play pens usually do not).

Now, bassinets do not last long, so I usually do not think they are worth the expense, but since it was a gift....it could come in handy!

Well I'd either put it on CraigsList for a trade for a swing, or you could just sell it on there and use that money to buy the swing.
