Are you thinking about this often, as it happens? It COULD be anxiety related, or it could be something else. I notice that if I notice myself swallowing kind of often, I think about it even more and it keeps happening. Ultimately, I have to distract myself so I can forget about it, and all goes back to normal.
For the burping, has your diet changed at all? Have you been taking any new medications? I take Prozac and notice that it makes me burp a lot more. It was getting extremely uncomfortable because I would sometimes have a difficult time burping and it would make my belly swollen with air. I also can't be burping out at work and in places, because often they were loud, long ones! Yikes! Now that I take Prozac at night, I've been much better with it and have things under control. This gives it some time to settle before I start eating. ALL fooRAB and even just plain water were doing this to me!
