I have been having problems swallowing for the last few months, and I am going to see an ENT, but they are not sure what is going on either. I had a barium swallow and they say I have a mucous shelf in my throat, the mucous that comes out of me is unreal and I am not sure what to do about it, and I can't swallow any solid fooRAB, so it is very hard to get enough food into me, could this be my problem or could it be something else. I just want to be able to eat again, and sleep without trying to get rid of this mucous constantly, what can I do?

What happens when you take Mucinex??? It usually can break up mucus..For some reason though your body is producing an increased amount of mucus and usually that is related to something else. It might be something pretty simple so I would stay on your doctor about it. Im having similar problems with the eating, I havent eaten in 5 days (only yogurt and water) because of pain in chest and stomach when I eat anything. I hope you get better, I bursted into tears today because of how frusterating this is and how I wish to be "normal" again. Good luck!

It sounRAB like reflux. That's what all of us on here are dealing with. I can tell when I am eating things that cause my acid reflux. I get a post nasal drip thing going with thick mucus. Yuck! Then it makes me think I have a sinus infection. It's a vicious cycle and hard to figure out. I can't stand it! Hang in there. And maybe check out your diet. Changing things could help alot!
