EXCELLENT FREEWARE Text Syncing App

You've all got to try this thing out - freeware of course!! YOU WILL NEED TO HAVE SOME SORT OF DOC READER ON YOUR PALM; this isn't a doc reader, it's a doc "synch-er."

http://palmtextsync.sourceforge.net/

Now I KNOW I've replaced Wordsmith effectively. I've been using blank documents imported to TealDoc, edited, then brought back to PC via the TealDoc converter. Changes made to the PC text were then run back through the TDoc Maker to sync on the palm again.

Well, I downloaded this conduit (nothing happens until you CONFIGURE THE CONDUIT, although the handheld app is synced on to the Palm).

I configured the "Text Sync Dialog box," and let her rip. ALL of the text files on the HANDHELD in TealDoc were immediately backed up to a folder I CREATED on the PC; changes made to either Palm or PC version were synced just fine; Conduit time: THREE SECONDS.

This is an excellent piece of freeware if you don't need "MS WORD" formatting; you can always "select all" and paste in to Word if you need that. For me, it's faster for writing to use TealDoc and now with the terrific program it's better, faster, leaner and meaner than Wordsmith, without all the extra font nonsense (TealDoc does come with fontbucket if you like that osrt of thing) and long sync times and conflicts and all the rest.

Can't recommend this one enough - THE APP SIZE ON THE T3 is only 1k - that's right - 1k. The size of the app on the PC is around 2.5MB. Once I had it configured I deleted the 3 auto backups it was making - they're located in Palm/User folder under user name, under text sync. You'll see "backup;" that creates within itself a FOLDER for each document - I thought that was unnecessary. Wipe 'em out when you're up and running and know the syncing is working. I burn CD's of desktop stuff, so that's by backup. I don't think you need the extra space of the folders.

Super app. See -- I do support developers - especially those who make non-bloated, working stuff that's configurable YOUR way and solve problems easily and effectively - even if they're FREE.
