Exactly what genre IS Inuyasha?

It's shounen, even naruto and bleach have elements of romance (though obviously more strongly present in inuyasha) but the main format of the show is still strong male lead levels up and other characters comment on long drawn out battles. It seems different because it has useful female characters and a more present romantic storyline, but the main storyline is obvious: Shounen.
 
I think these posters here hit the nail on the head, especially if you compare it to something like Scrapped Princess. Inuyasha has that same adventure type of thing going on while being heavier on action than Scrapped Princess. So yeah, action-adventure/fantasy would be something I'd categorized Inuyasha under. Shonen can be used as well, but I hardly see people categorize it as shonen.
