Ex Kyocera 6035 user - what smartphone for me?

Hi,

I used to have a Kyocera 6035 and loved it, even though it was a bit large.

What I loved was being able to come to my desk, drop the phone in the cradle, press the sync button, and have my desktop software in sync with my phone. I loved having all my contact numbers and calander with me without having a separate pda to carry.

I moved 2 years ago and lost my Sprint signal, and also sold my business, so retired the 6035 and have not needed a smart phone since then. But now I do need one again.

Is the Treo 650 the top candidate to consider or are there others? I have Cingular in Austin TX. The Cingular network here seems pretty good but I've talked to a couple of Treo users who say their sound quality isn't always the best. I don't need all the bells and whistles that come with a Treo, I really just want contact and calender syncing, but I like the palm stylus versus trying to press tiny buttons when entering in stuff out in the field.

Also, my 2 year on Cingular is up so I could switch to any carrier if needed, so my phone choices are not limited to Cingular.

Any advise/opnions are appreciated.

Steve

if you are willing to learn a different os, cingular 8125 is a great device. you have stylus AND a keyboard.
but by going to treo 650, you'll lose no sleep since palm os interface has not changed much. even though it does not have a graffiti area, it can be enabled with a software that for the world of me can't remember the name of right now. but having it enabled does eat up your screen space.

Thanks. I went to the Cingular store and played with the 8125 a bit. It seems ok, but I didn't feel any love for it. The Treo looks like it's my top candidate still.
