I cannot help but feel sad when I see the love in Rose's eyes when she cries out for Ed when Envy kills him. Though I don't know if that is as sad as I feel when Winry gets to spend just a moment with him in Conqueror of Sharaballa and then he is gone back and the gate destroyed. I'm not really sure why I'm posting this except I just watched ep 1+2 again and seeing the moment where the love Rose has for him is started. "You have a strong pair of legs beneath you, Rose. Why don't you get up and use them." I love that quote.

Yea, I enjoyed FMA too even though it dragged at times. One of the few that are emotionally provocative. I wonder when we'll get another anime at the same quality. (Gurren and Geass weren't nearly as good, imo)

Or maybe there's something out there already. I haven't really watched anything in the past year and a half.

FMA, to me, truly is a masterpiece. I've seen a lot of anime, but that is one of my favorites. You're right, Ed's quote to Rose is great =). I've always felt terrible for Winry too, after the Conqueror of Sharabala. It must be lonely for her...

FMA is an alright show. But the brotherhood season is excellent show so far.
