LIMP mode and switch the sub off.? I have a Sony HU. 2 x 6" Kingwood speakers in the doors. 2 x 6x9 Sony speakers in rear parcel shelf. RMPH 1000W mono amp powering a Rampage Herculer 500W Sub. Battery is a brand new 350CCA Century battery. Though this has been happening ever since I installed the audio system which was months ago.

The amp has lights on it and if you slowly turn it up I know when to stop because the lights on the amp light up and dull with the beats. Though if the next song has more bass than the previous then it will shut down. So I have to switch over to radio then back to CD so the amp can reboot.

I heard about a capacitor? Would that help? The rating for the sub and amp were max rating so I dont know what the nominal rating is? Would a larger sub help?
- and +

it is nearly at the - and always has been
it isn't loud. i dont like my music too loud though when i do want to crank it a little it cuts out

You will be stone deaf soon enough, and it will not matter any more; the circuit is a safety cut-out to prevent you from 'ripping a hole' in the cone of the sub-woofer. You don't need a capacitor, you need to turn it down a little...

yes definitely turn down the amp to about 3/4 gain and a capacitor will help probably it sounds like the amp tries to draw power that isn't there so it goes into like a safe mode the capacitor stores energy so when the bass hits it has all the power it needs on tap good luck hope this helps
