Every once in a while the light next to my webcam flashes.Is somebody spying on me?

Every now and then the tiny white light next to my webcam on my Dell laptop flashes like its taking a picture for no reason. It's freaking me out!

What does it mean?
 
I think it should flash every time you reboot.

You may have a loose connection.

Check device manager to see if it is appearing to Windows and then disappearing. If so, this may be your problem.

Another possible problem is that you don't have the proper device drivers installed for the webcam. Again, you look in device manager to look for devices with yellow triangles next to the device name.
