...catastrophes. History or made up? From every corner of the world every group of people have stories passed down to them from their ancestors of great catastrophes which swept their land and the world. Why do we believe they were all made up, and do you believe there is any truth to their claims? To them they were not myths, but their history.
 
...and at the same time, there are people who are certain that the Rapture is coming because they're convinced that the disasters of the world are getting worse.

Fact: catastophes always happen.
Fact: not everything that is said to have happened must be true.
Fact: not all facts of past events are faithfully recorded, especially when there's an oral tradition involved.

Thus, if we want to know what really happened in the past, we need to look for signs that would've been left behind by the event. We can't just take people's word for it.
