i have recently bought 3 angel fish (2cm approx), i have with them 3 swordtails, 3 corys and sucker fish, should I get one more angel from same place i bought them? just worrying incase two pair off and kill the other. and it might be too late to introduce another angel by the time breeding starts?

my tank is good sized enough for one more. please dont go on about that i just want to know if its better to have odd or even numbers?
i only bought the fish yesterday, so would i need to do that with a new one? so soon? :)

I had two fully grown angels that were a breeding pair. They had a pink kissing gourami as a tankmate. They picked on this poor guy relentlessly. I added three juvenile angles and the gourami thought they were his new best friends. The adult pair also stopped picking on the gourami and have shown no aggression at all. I think it is a numbers thing with them. Since they were outnumbered, they stopped fighting,

With angels, odd numbers are the best (with the exception of 3s). The chances of one ganging up on the other lessens.

So, having four would be better than three and you can introduce another if they start breeding...long answer lol

EDIT: In response to the answer above. Angels are easy to breed. All you really need to do is have a flat, somewhat vertical surface for them to lay their eggs on and raise the temp to about 80 to 82 degrees. My angels are at 82 degrees and they spawn every week and a half.

They also don't need 35 gallons per fish. Ten gallons per fish is acceptable. I have five of mine in a 55 and they are happy and healthy.

just keep a close eye on them, they could start fighting no mater if they are odd or even numbers, if your gonna add a new one, change the tank decoe drastically right before adding it. these can help by breaking up the dominated sections of the tank. but it might not, you never know with angels.

Angel fish do well in schools, I wouldn't worry about that. It depends on how big your tank is, for all the fish you have listed it should be no less then 55-60 gallons. Angel fish get to be about 6 inches in length at adult size, and need approx 35 gallons for the first one. Angel fish are also difficult to breed in aquariums so I wish you luck if you manage to breed them! You only need a ratio of one male to one female. Did you buy all those fish yesterday? Fish should only be added into tanks at one or two fish at a time once a week. It causes the fish too much stress, as changing tanks causes them stress, being in a tank with new fish causes them stress, the new water conditions cause them stress, etc. So I would definitely not add in another angel fish until another 2 weeks time so they have plenty of time to settle. Adding in too many fish at once can lead to a mass death. And adding in too many fish for the tank can lead to this as well, so if your tank isnt bigger then 65 gallons then I wouldn't recommend it especially if you plan to breed. Angel fish love to swim around the tank, I've kept them successfully for over 20 years :)

Maybe yours were easy to breed seeing as they were a mating pair, but all the research I've done indicates it is hard to breed in captivity, so your lucky! And I said 35 gallons for the first one, not for each angel :)
