Even after the financial crisis are there some people who still don't get it?

Sorry to Helen S as it's a bit rude to quote her like this, but this is what she wrote in a reply to a question about protecting the vulnerable:

"There's no going back now, the die is cast, the election is upon us but be warned that if it goes badly for the Conservatives their supporters will leave, take their money and their expertise out of this country and what then will replace private initiative? Why would anyone work 24/7/52 for nothing?"

Are there people out there who still don't get it? As a way a trying to bully people into voting tory, surely that little threat is past its sell-by date? Who are these conservative voters and what is their "expertise"? Are we talking bankers, the CBI, tax dodging, low-paying crooks? At one time you could argue that the rich and business-minded were good for the country, but we dont' seem to be rich now and who caused that? Would you really cry if all these people took their "expertise"somewhere else? Who caused the financial crisis? Was it public sector workers? Immigrants? The EU? The muslims? Chavs on housing estates? Benefit cheats? Er, no. Does a comment like Helen's really suggest that some people don't get what has gone on in the world in the last few years? I'm not getting at Helen as I think she has articulated something that a lot of people still believe. I just find it hard to understand why they still believe it.
