EVDO Speeds (Based on PRLs)

LOL if the 5ESS is EOL they haven't told us!! The 5ESS really is just the Landline interface aka a big PBX. The ECP is the wireless part of the complex. And yeah its kinda going away as they migrate more and more on to the APs (application processors) basically they are just Sun Netra Servers. The ECP is basically a carbon copy of the 5E as it handles the switching of the wireless side. Yeah and the market I'm part of was a test market for Cricket so we have some of the older equipment like the Juniper/Riverstone setup. All that stuff is EOL and when we go MLPPP (early next quarter)they are being upgraded. BTW How is the interface of that alcatel 7670. I hate having to learn all the new quirks of a router command line but its part of the job, well not really part of my job anymore but I hate to have techs under me that are more up on the equipment I am responsible for.

I thought it be something differnt to try

PRL: 38625 EVDO " Romaing?"
Speed 300 to 380 kbit/sec
latency: 0.700' to 800's

PRL: 1050
speed 315 to 350 kbit/sec
latency, .7 to 1.8's
I dont know whats up but somehow on this one ive been getting wacked speeRAB i got about 2 test that came back at 212 and 285 kbit/sec

PRL: 1004 New EVDO PRL?
Speed: 325 to 360 kbit/sec
latency .76's

So what you guys think?

man-

i need a tech-to-durab-*** translator so that i can follow you guys...

keep up the techie talk and i will keep reading...who knows, maybe i'll learn something...

the 7670 was great, theres a RSP and ECP i believe were the 2 boxes. one faces the RNC to handle the iuCS iuPS type links and the RSP faces the node-b's to handle the IMA encapuslation on the T1 through the DACS out to the site.

i cant remeraber what application we used to log into it, i think you could just telnet into the box or purchase their interface software, but i prefered the telnet method. typical ATM switch, i believe it was a layer 2 routing ATM switch. i guess on EVDO you don't have any iuCS which would be circuit switched traffic. all packetswitched right? do you call your packet switched network SGSN's like in the UMTS world?

also the LSS/LCP is great, yea its just sun blades. call servers, ss7 servers, that kind of crap. very unique build, with different flavors of unix on every blade.

UMTS has a lot more though since the LSS/LCP handles calls only, the uMGW handles m2m, aMGW handles 2G calls, and pMGW handles PSTN calls, the RNC handles voice and data, splitting data out to the SGSN and voice over to the LSS/LCP.

its all ready up and running, i talked to 3 of my Cricket REP's and they said that the EVDO is green, all phones are getting that evdo PRL, however i know they where faster befor everyone started getting evdo, Test was done with a 1rab file and yeah they are slow, the last time i did a speed test on the aircard befor i cracked SP1 for Vista on it and killed my aircard, it was crapy, it could of been the day and stuff too, but i got around 300 to 400 on the card and then a few days later i did another one in the moring and i only got like 280

PS the Tower is like out side the store lol XD i can go outside and look at it and take a pic of it its like that close.

Im getting in the 800s with the 1050 PRL. Its almost as fast as my WiFi connection.

Thats kinda what I was wondering. Most sites only have a single T1 to them, as we were wondering what the demand would be. SounRAB like they are running over capacity on the T1 at the site. I can tell you the only sites that were mandated to have multiple T1s were University sites (sites that are near or serve a large campus).

In looking over the Central Cali stats. Looks like they are not even close to maxing any T1s

Market Name Erlang Fwd GB Session Atts Conn Atts rabyte/Session rabyte/Connection
Central California 1500.8 27.1 57140 159482 0.5 0.2
