"Evangelion 2.0: You Can (Not) Advance" News and Speculation Thread (SPOILERS!)

Movie is out in Japan! Spoilers and reviews are everywhere, but I'm not going to say much.
SounRAB like one hell of a ride, and completely different from the series. Some people are even calling Anno out for "trolling", if that's any indication. I think Gurren Lagann rubbed off on them quite a bit, too.
Sad that we won't really see it for a while.

If people say Anno is trolling, my answer to that is very simple--that's what he did to you last time! What of it?

But this time he isn't wrecked by depression and he knows where he's going, so I'm inclined to trust him and his staff. As should any fanboy that's spent years preaching his genius from the rooftops.

Not that it's necessarily perfect or without flaws. I don't know all the details yet, so I'm not trying to judge right now. I'm just still feeling impressed from the showing of 1.0 this past spring.

Yes. Worth the 1800 yen. I dunno where it's gonna go from here but I'm excited to find out. Maybe only 60% stuff from the TV series and even that stuff was "different" in various ways. New character is a hellof a lot of fun (clearly gurren lagann influenced a bit). Also not enough has been said, but the movie refocuses the character relationships between rei, asuka, and shinji into something a lot tighter and more impactful than the original TV series, which had characters that seemed to meander around for 10 episodes.
Also, redesigned angels are awesome as usual, and the ones that aren't redesigned much are improved. Visuals are impeccable.

Spoiler for 2.0 below. Click at you're own risk.
Yes it's a new costume but it's not seen throughout the movie. She get's this Plugsuit during a "test" of sorts. Which is all I am saying.

A short and sweet non-spoiler free review:
It was beautiful. Simply beautiful. The animation was perfect and there are so many twists and turns with many laughs and many shocks. The CGI was perfect and added to the battles. Each scene was very unique. The film was just awesome. I can't wait for the last two, to come out. There are also some surprises that aren't really plot related as well. A few bits also reminded me of Gurren Lagann. The new characters and twists were very fun.

Say hello to the "school girl fantasy" cliche. God, you know I love her. And she has a purpose in the film, SHOCK!

I have to say, I never really cared much for Eva but these movies have changed my mind. They are so FAR superiour to the show. They've made an Eva fan out of me.

What? She is! OH MAN I WANT TO SEE IT SO BADLY....

I mean, um...feminism....and um...fanservice is bad...yeah!

(Honestly, I kind of figured she would be given Gainax's genre-savviness when it comes to character models. Tall bishoujou with glasses and looks uber-serious in most of her character shots...hmm...who does that remind me of....

OH RIGHT!

Basically I figured she was going to be a total "b" or a nymph so yeah...

That's from Gintama. She's a glasses ninja girl.

And honestly on my initial thoughts of 2.0, sometimes it goes way over-the-top and I'm talking beyond "Dance like you want to Win."

I really liked the dialogue between Shinji and Rei and that
Asuka seems to not be as important as she was in the original series. But that can change in 3.0

So what's the purpose of this new anime fetish girl character in the new movie? Is she a pilot or is she a supporting character/student?

Also, what does this expression of Anno trolling mean? Like does it mean that this new EVA series is basically like a troll of the original by how different it is?

Also, couldn't it be argued that the original Eva series and movies were so good because Anno was channeling his emotional depression and what not?
