I like the spider-legs. Hate the plug-suit's "skirt."

Note that, one again, the designs have taken the implicit meaning from earlier visuals and reworked them so the meaning behind them enRAB up overly obvious. First it was the devil horns of Eva Unit 02, now Mari's plug-suit (before, plug-suits had implicit parallels with the Angel designs) is explicity similar to Sachiel's design. It's a little too obvious for my tastes.

It was revealed in the trailer credits. Asuka Shikinami, named after the battleship that fought with the Ayanami.

Maybe I'm thinking too much into this but what if the new girl ..... is like Shinji's double in personality she looks emo enough to pull it off. And here's another thought......what if she is Shinji's new love interest instead of Asuka.

Well they DO look alike minus the woman chest, long hair, and glasses.

Wow, honestly I'm just amazed at the trailer, and I really wasn't expecting Asuka's last name to be changed from Soryu to Shikinami, but then again, it does make sense, and it further explains Asuka's hatred of Ayanami

Didn't Asuka's original name kind of hint at the fact she'd be born and/or raised outside of Japan?

Honestly, why? It's like a reverse of when Tomino used the MSG movies to distance Amuro from being of Japanese birth which was apparently forced on him during the TV run. Is there something offensive about having a non-Japanese Eva pilot now?
