Evangelion 1.0 Dub Cast announced (and Sgt. Frog coming soon)

Uh, uh. If we get the crappy dub for TV based on that little preview earlier this year, I'm not watching it. I'm glad that SGT. Frog is coming straight to DVD. It gives me more hope in hoping that FUNI will get a better voice actor for Keroro.

Plus if the dub's not that great, I can watch the subs. Then again, the show's pretty much over and done with in Japan, to my knowledge so FUNI being so late in the game with this show is kinda...I don't know. I think that FUNI should've jumped on the Keroro bandwagon years ago back when the show was fresh. Now that the manga might be slowing down over here in the states, the show may not get the respect it deserves.

As for the series being on other networks: I have to say "No" to all of them.

Syfy a.k.a. Sci-Fi: Too many commercial breaks as evidenced with Gurren Lagann during it's intial runs.

Disney XD: You thought Digimon Savers got messed up, I don't know what the network would've done with SGT Frog but I'll tell ya that the edits may not be pretty. Like the deletion of any mentions of Gundams and other references of anime would've been just flat out gone.

Nick: I can't really see anime on the network anymore especially with what happened with the SLAM! block.

CN: Need I say more?
 
You know "Sgt. Frog" is a different being released at a different time and this just sounRAB like some pessimistic speculation. I mean what do you think that whole point of the test episode dub was? Maybe it will air on T.V. with a faithful dub, you never know. And besides, even if it Americanized for T.V. you'll still get the original version on DVD.
 
Commercial breaks don't matter as much in comedy shows, compared to otherswhere one missed scene ruins the entire show (Gundam 00, YOOOOOOU!)
 
It's like why I'm still upset at Syfy (Sci-Fi) skipping out on playing out the ending credits of Gurren Lagann. It's all because of their own time constraints.
 
That had me on the floor for a minute.

This is FUNimation we're talking about here, other than edited "Dragonball" and "YuYu hakusho" releases they did early in the decade in late '90s, and unless they can't get some rights cleared like with "Shin-Chan" they always include the original version on their DVRAB. FUNImation even said they're keeping all the "Gundam" and "Macross" references in the English dub, and are retaining the original character names. Again, they probably put out that test episode because they suspected that if they released the dub the way it was they were gonna get a lot of flack from fans.
 
FUNi couldn't jump on the bandwagon because ADV had the rights to it.



Seeing as how Sgt. Frog almost ended up on Nick, I wouldn't rule them out so easily.
 
You're forgetting that this is FUNimation who haven't released a TV version since like the early Dragonball time.

Remeraber how the FUNi One Piece dub was edited on Toonami and they specifically said the edited version would never come out on DVD?
 
I never heard an accent but I'm gonna have to admit to never really liking Greg Ayres as Kaworu. I perfered the original english voice for that character , and since Jerry Jewel sounRAB almost exactly like that, I'm looking forward to hearing it.

On the downside, Kaworu being Greg's first anime role may have something to do with why I never liked it. Maybe he could do better now but we'll never get to hear it. Hope he does good as Kensuke, though.

According to ANN, at the premiere screening of this movie at Anime Expo today, the version they screened was 1.0, as is the one they will screen in other North American theaters throughout the rest of the summer, the version they will release on DVD in the fall with be 1.01, and they will release a Blu-ray of 1.11 next spring, along with 1.11 on DVD. This pisses me off personally, since I'll have to either buy an incomplete version, wait a half a year to buy the film, or buy the same film twice. This double-dipping crap is the same thing they did in Japan.
 
That's rather silly. It makes sense to use the absolute best version for the Blu-Ray release, but who would double dip for three minutes of new animation?

Rent and wait for the final version of the film before buying, I guess. But I somehow doubt that most people would notice the difference between all these versions. Like I said, silly.
 
I'll definitely buy the first release, and if by next spring, I have a Blu-ray player, I'll buy the Blu-ray. If not, I'll have to decide what to do then. I might buy the new version and try to sell my old version.
