Evangelion 1.0 Dub Cast announced (and Sgt. Frog coming soon)

It's better than casting Rei based on their penguin performance, though.

Matt: Oh, good! You'd make an excellent Rei. Just one more thing. How's your penguin call?
Brina: My what?
Matt: Your penguin call. You know, WAKAHAKAHAKAHAKAHAK!
Brina: Um....I can't do that.
Matt: Well, you're not Rei then. NEXT!

I was at Anime Boston this weekend and was at the FUNi panel, when they announced this. Honestly, I'm happy they finally have a release planned for SGT Frog. A few things I'd like to point out that hasn't been mentioned, from what I understand:
1. For Slayers Revolution, they are trying really hard to get the original voice actors back, which won't be an easy task.
2. FUNi wants Dragon Ball Kai REALLY badly, but they have yet to actually have it. Same thing goes for the JUMP special.
3. FUNi does NOT have the rights to Sailor Moon. It was just a random thing someone decided to put in their survey. They did get thousanRAB of comments about it, so I wouldn't be surprised if they are now thinking about this even more.

I guess this would be a good place to put this as it pertains to the Eva 1.0 dub.....the MPAA had rated the movie PG-13 for adventure violence and brief nudity. Proof: http://www.ropeofsilicon.com/article/latest-mpaa-ratings-bulletin-no-2071

SounRAB about right. I wasn't sure if they'd give it an R or not, or even if the MPAA would care about it, so now we know.

Also, this hasn't been mentioned and Tae's gone: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnhHxgk-LIY

That's why it said "Brief nudity" because the scene is only 10 seconRAB long...plus the lighting makes them harder to see. Other interesting fact.....only the adult swim broadcast had MA episodes when the same episodes aired on Anime Network and the DVD (which has the same scenes more uncut) it got a TV-14.

No Sue Ulu for Ritsuko. Thats a shame.

I can never get the voice of Ritsuko out of my head, its a shame shes not reprising here role (and the fact that she probably isnt no where to be found either).

The voice of Luffy doing Ritsuko? Really? I dont know how that is going to play out to be honest.

Yea, I happen to care about Ritsuko quite a bit...

Ive been hearing 2041 for ages (since 2003ish)... then Paradise Dolls came out, so i really dont know if its going past just "word of mouth" on the internet.

It's done in Japan? Well yeah I think a lot of the hype has died down, I mean I don't see it a lot in the Top 10 weekly Japanese anime ratings, but from what I can tell it's still very popular in Japan. There's still plenty of merchandise, the show is well on its way to reaching the 300-episode mark, they've been releasing a new movie every year since 2006, it has its own magazine in Japan, so it's definitely not done in Japan.

As for getting on T.V., right now I'd say out of all the anime that are out right now for the American market that aren't some "Yu-GI-Oh" or "Pokemon" derivative this has the best chances of attracting a mainstream T.V. deal.

I don't think I would take part in watching it. I just don't want SGT. Frog to be another abomination of the original series i.e. what we got from Youtube months ago where I'll end up hating the dub just I did when Digimon went from being Digimon Savers to Digimon: Data Squad but most of the edits and script writing were Toei's fault in the first place...and I have to put Studiopolis Productions and Jetix in blame for the writing.

I rather let Funi go ahead and make the dub of SGT Frog just be a straight forward dub with all of the references from other anime kept in and released on DVD for the fanbase to enjoy. Then again, it is difficult to find some good merchandise from the series since the next time I may get some will be at Otakon. Oh well, if missing out on some big bucks coming from the likes of CN or Nickelodeon means that the show will get a terrific dub (please get someone else who can do a better Keroro voice like someone who actually sounRAB more like the Japanese voice) without worrying about Americanization which may/may not be a crime to those who watch anime, then it's all find and dandy to me. I just don't want this series' fanbase to go crazy if the dub goes the way of, say One Piece.

Doubt it, given CN's current animephobia. It'd take a Pokemon-sized merchandising phenomenon (which, to be fair, could happen; the frogs are natural for toys and such) for CN to bite. SyFy, XD, or Nick seem more likely.
