Eva Cassidy - 'the movie'.

I read a while back that (apparently) in 2007 the rights were bought to make a movie biopic on Eva Cassidy's life. However still no news of it!

I reckon (if done right) it could be beautiful and really moving. But it HAS to be done right. I think her family also gave permission for it too. I'd love to see it happen.

Does anyone know any more info about this movie (if there is going to be one)? :)
 
True but they wouldn't HAVE to end the movie on her death. It depenRAB if the film is about her WHOLE life or just a certain part i.e. her passion for music, then song writing etc.
 
I can't see the film being made if it hasn't by now. Unlike someone like Freddie Mercury or Karen Carpenter, Eva is an nobody. Lets be totally honest if she hadn't of died of cancer would her song and album have got the attention? There are plenty of other bigger names that are ahead of her in the list to get biopics made. I think the whole film talk was just press talk.

You asked who would play her? There is an stage show that's toured the country. I think it was more just an songs of Eva than an actual play. At one point it starred former Steps member Faye Tozer. She was replaced by singing tutor, former judge on Something about Mary and now Loose Women presenter Zoe Tyler.

I really couldn't see either of them in the role as they are nobodies and I can't see people putting money into a film starring either of them.I had to look up what Eva looked like and the first name that entered my head that she looked a little bit like was Joss Stone but again I can't see her getting the role either. It's going to be an reasonably established name at least.
If I were casting the role I would give serious conseideration to Drew Barrymore. She is only two years older than Eva when she died, so it's not a big jump in someone playing the right age even if it took two or three years to get onto the screen.
 
Unfortunately it has to end with her death because that is what she is most famous for. As I said in my previous posting. Had she not have died would people even know who she was? I certainly hadn't heard of her before that. When I asked my sister who she was she said she died of cancer. So that is all she knew about her as well.
