The young wife is ? diagnosed with breast cancer and tells the doctor she does not want her family to know. She also refuses chemotherapy or any other option. This lady has a husband, who makes all the decisions, mother-who runs the household, and two small children. Should the ways of their culture be followed or should the confidentiality and privacy act of the US be followed? If you know of any legal cases or a web site I can go to get information, I would appreciate it.

I'm not sure. It depends on what's legal or illegal. I think it would be illegal for the doctors to not do everything they possibly could but I also think it's illegal to force care on a sane adult.

Their culture should be respected but if it were something like, the husband refusing care for her then I would disagree.
