Ethical debate questions (opinions)?

Today in my english class we had a fishbowl discussion. I would like to know more one what people opinions are.

This had a slight heat when the group was talking...

Would you murder an innocent person if it would prevent an even like September 11th?

This was my groups question, and I had a very strong opinion on one side and our group got very heated.

If someone close to you was ill and in a lot of pain, and was also going to die in six months, and asked you to poison them...would you?

Nope. Murdering an innocent person can't be justified. No matter what....even if it were to alter destiny or fate in such a was as to prevent disaster.

No, I would not poison someone if they asked me to. I could not live with myself, even if it was their wish.

First example: Yes. I'd feel horrible about it, and be burdened for life, but it's arithmatic. Better for the community to lose one, than lose 100s.

Second example: Only if I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt they were destined to die, and only if I knew that they would go to heaven. Otherwise, no.
