The distributor is disconnected because I need a new one.
289. She was buried in the trees for 15 years.Just got her ready to drive 1800 miles.
 
A good running 289 will get about 17-20 MPG if driven with moderation.
Just make sure the points are in good shape if you are going to use a point type distributor and set the carb correct along with getting the timing right and you should be set.
