Yeah he played a whole variety of them, Auntie Nelda, a hairdresser named Tiffany, a WWII bomber, a Julius Caeser impersonation to name a few :D lol.

He passed away from lung cancer in 2000. He never let himself be photographed with a cigarette or anything like that in his hand though. He didn't want to send a bad message to the kids who liked his movies. :( I find that so sweet of him. He also got famous for doing commercials, I have a tape of about 100 of them and they are halarious.  Jim Varney as Ernest

Yeah he did, in Scared Stupid he played a whole mess of people. It was funny, one of the kids helping him said something like "oh great now I have to defend this place with a multiple personality."

Aww yes I heard about that. Thats sad that he passed. What did he pass away from, again?

:D The Ernest movies rock!
:yay: for this thread too. I have all the Ernest movies except for Slam Dunk Ernest, that one just looks like total crap :P lol. I love the cheesy humor of all the movies, Jim Varney who played Ernest was from a city 2 hours from my town too. He's such a great actor who could do so much greatness other than Ernest but he got typecast.

He's a truly great actor and man, I love these movies, thanks so much for starting this thread. :)

Omg, I have all the Ernest movies, they're a must! Jim Varney....that's his name, right, was just comedic genius! Too sad he passed away while filming another one.

I'm not sure which is my fave....have to watch 'em again.

Ive use to watch all the Ernest movies when I was a little kid. He use to crack me up so much, but now he is more cheesy then anything

Heres a list of all the Ernest movies
Ernest Goes to Camp
Ernest Saves Christmas
Ernest Goes to Jail
Ernest in the Army
Ernest Goes to Africa
Ernest Scared Stupid
Ernest Goes to School

My favorite Ernest movie would have to be "Ernest Scared Stupid" I watch it every year still around Halloween. I can never get over his line "How 'bout a bumper sandwich, Boogerlips?"

Anyone else remember these films or was/is a fan?
