I have inherited an Ercol table. Its a nice solid dark wood (teak maybe?) with side leafs that lift up each side. I really like the table but it doesnt go with anything in my house and also has a few scratches and cup rings on the top. I was thinking of making it a project and sanding/removing the dark stain on it and painting it something like white or cream and then ageing it, like the shabby look. Just wondered what anyone's opinion of this is as I dont want to do it, if it is perhaps valuable or if this type of table should just be restored rather than changed???
