I just watched David Lynch's 'Eraserhead', and I found it quite worthy of it's cult film status.
I interpreted it as an extremely sexual film. The opening sequence is like a metaphor for ejaculation/ insemination. The dinner scene with the chickens bleeding is a symbol of menstruation. The puppies nursing is innuendo. Then there's the huge sperm creatures everywhere..
The Lady in the Radiator represents death/ salvation. Her first appearance where she crushes the sperm creatures is saying "I can solve your problems" (i.e., the mutant baby). Her second appearence is suggesting that if Henry commits suicide, he'll go to Heaven and everything will be fine.
I read that Lynch had his first child during the filming of Eraserhead. Could the movie be a result of Lynch's fears of fatherhood?
MY QUESTION IS: what is your interpretation of Eraserhead, and why/ how did you conclude that?
