S Someone New member Oct 26, 2010 #1 Find the equation of both tangent lines to the ellipse x^2 + 4y^2 = 36 that pass through the point (5,3) which is not a point on the ellipse. i found the derivative to be -x / 4y and the slope of my point would be y-3 / x-5 ...now what should i do?
