epidural injections for pain management

Hi Kammy Welcome to the boarRAB. There are plenty of us on here who have had epi's. Ask away, and I'm sure you'll get plenty of answers. There have been several posts recently regarding epi's. You may want to browse and see what you can find. Everyone is going to ask, but why will you be getting the epi's? and where in your lower back? Kathy
 
I just had a Caudal injection last Thursday. My experience so far is this:

- Bad headache. Extreme nausea, dizziness and disorientation the rest of
the day. Nausea lasted for about 48 hours, dissipating as time went on.

- More pain now than before the injection, particularly in my lower back and
groin area. I understand this is common with the final result not
presenting itself for some time after. It varies with some people not
getting any relief.

I am supposed to have another one this Thursday and I am NOT having it done. Due to the increased pain I have been unable to do much of anything. I did manage to go to the grocery store today and this evening I felt a *little* better, but it was a huge struggle going to the store.

I'm hoping that each day will bring less pain.

If you are considering this for yourself, keep in mind that everyone is different. If you do decide to have the procedure done, be sure to have lots of ice packs on hand just in case and a comfy place to rest once you get home. Whatever you decide, good luck!!! :angel:
 
Hi Kammy and welcome i just wanted to say i have had the esi injection and it did give me relief if you had asked me that after i had it i would have said no,but it takes time to see the results,i couldnt sleep from leg pain and it helped alot.but like i said if you asked right after i wasnt going back,simply because i made alot of mistakes like not icing the area and went right back to work,lifting children,if you do get it definately ice the area,i think thats where i made my biggest mistake.are you getting for your legs or your tailbone?either way i wish you the best. marywoo
 
hi Kammy! Welcome!

I did have two "sets" of injections. He gave me one the first time with no result and the second time he said he was GOING TO GET IT and did two shots. I stayed down-iced twenty minutes of almost every hour, but no results. It is a conservative step in back health and one I am glad my doctor tried-but I ended up with surgery anyway.

Hi Kammy

I have had several epidurals and the best i got out of all of them was a day pain free.

Does that mean you are due for injections?

If so i hope they work for you.
