Has anyone had any experience with getting an epidural after back surgery. I had a micro lami almost 3 years ago. Still having leg and back pain. One neurosurgeon said no to an epidural, another has recommended it. Unsure what to do at this point. Have tried neurontin and other stuff to no avail.

REMOVED If you are referring to epidural steroid injections you have nothing to loose so try it...some people find a good relief from that...it is temporary and doesn't cure anything but any amount of pain relief is better than suffering. My husband did that twice but didn't have much relief but he had to try. He depended on a tremendous amount of pain patches and oral pain pills and then progressed to a spinal cord stimulator but even that is only 50% of pain relief along with pain patches. I would suggest you go to a spinal clinic or a doctor that specializes in the spine (other than surgeons). Sometimes surgeons are not as versed in what to do when their surgery fails. But there is a many other things to do or try. You can also educate yourself by reading the archives on this board to learn all you can from what others have done. good luck

Been where you are and had both to no avail. If your insurance will cover it try it and see if it does you any good. With mine it actually made it worse and I just had a Axialif fusion done in 7/2008 and still have pain. The way I see it if you don't try it you will never know if it helps or not. Good luck!!
