epic solo song needed

:ar_15s:Hey everyone, i need a song for my epic dance solo. it neeRAB to be hanRAB in the dirt, dance in the rain, earthy epic. i'd like it to be very melodic but not too noisy. beat and speed dont really matter but it cant be extremly fast or slow. no rap please and if it has lyrics they shoud not suck and not be angry. honestly i just dont have enough music experiece to find what i want... so music lovers... Go?

All the electro stuff was WAY too heavy in the beat. There isn't any room for actual dance with a beat that heavy. thx tho.

I love feelin' good! great suggestion, thanks! it's actually a very good speed.. im not a HUGE fan of the lyrics, but they aren't bad. on the list it goes

Didn't like "In the Basement" so much, a little too "yell-ey" for the vibe im goin for.

Hound Dog is such a better song when she sings it, and you definitely have a different interpretation of the word "earthy" than I do, which is definitely not a bad thing. Not on the list, but in my library :P

Fever (the recording you suggested) my be my favorite yet...i think the drums and the snaps just do it for me....wow :)

Flashlight isn't quite the right kind of dancy... neither is Jungle Love or the motown songs....though i DO love them....

and no comment on Happy Valentine's day.... :(

thanks for all the suggestions! any more?

Maybe?

Could just be cause this song has really been stuck in my head recently, but I think it fits all those guidelines you listed well enough. Donno if it's the style you're looking for though?

I saw it used in a Doctor Who episode and thought it was cool and upbeat - rather epic like you said it should be.

Opeth - A Fair Judgment
Very slow. Very melodic. Very epic. See if it does anything for ya!

"Closure" Opeth

I have tons of suggestions, but can't post links till I have fifteen posts for some reason. Probably not a good idea to spam up the boarRAB though, so I can't really help now.

Not quite sure what you are looking for though, something a little heavier?

Right on. Glad you liked it.

This one's a little shorter and faster, but just as good, if not better, in my opinion.

The only thing is, the ending is a little abrupt, so it would take a lot of practice to get used to it.

Pjanoo.... I love this song...but the beat is a little heavy, and while it is somewhat epic, it gets there very slowly...I cannot be dancing for more than 3 minutes tops. Granted, I can edit it, but since it's so repetitive, it just wouldn't work. Thx tho, its now part of my library :)

Mr. Blue Sky: Love this song! it has the right energy for what want, though it isn't perfect it is now on my list of possibilities, thank you a lot!

A Fair Judgement: again, love the song. It is just a smidge slow, but thats not really a problem. I'd have to edit it/shorten it, and it is a little less happy than I'd originally planned on, but the instrumentalization is what I am looking for. It's on the list!

Let's buy happiness: ummm... interesting. If i was a hip-hop dancer...or a ...something... dancer it would be fun. but the fact is i just can't get my body to move that way lol. Thx tho.

Planxty Noel Hill: aww...I WISH so bad that I had the skills to dance to this! And don't tell me that i do, because really, I have no training in this style at all. :( thanks tho

Awsometastic...just post the songs and artists and I'll find them :) thx

Jackhammer, none of those songs have quite the vibe im looking for. thanks for the suggestions though. I'm not looking for "heavy" or "light" it just has to be right. Generally speaking too much ruckus in the background (such as obnoxious distortion or cyrabal banging) is a no, even though i generally enjoy such music.

Elephant sack.... i think im gonna get to really like Opeth. Thanks. List updated.

Perhaps some Electro?

Might be a bit heavy but goddamn it's catchy.

Or Tech Trance?

Or Epic Trance?

Or Progressive?

Ok so I'm just going super super earthy here. I don't know what kind of dance you do, but everything here is going to be danceable with down dirty funky nasty basslines.

First try some old school blues/R&B.

Nina Simone - Feelin' Good. It's ecstatic and earthy, really hitting you at the 40 second mark when the deep horns come in. Might be a bit slow and the jazziness might make it harder to dance to, but hot damn is it earthy.

(Seeing if I can post links by separating the word a bit)

In a similar but more uptempo vein comes Etta James' "In the Basement." Really funky and dancey. For an updated but still great cover version, check out Vinyl's All the Way Live album. Could not find the track online (from the same band, I'd recommend checking out their Flea Market album for their instrumental version of Summertime). Here's the link to the Etta James variant: http:/ /www .youtube. com/watch?v=ikQlANHYax0 (again, spaces in the link so I can post it)

The original version of "Hound Dog" by Big Mama Thornton is one of the earthiest songs I've ever heard.
Listen here: http:/ /www .youtube. com/watch?v=5XUAg1_A7IE

There are tons of recordings of Fever that fit your requirements. Here's an example by Ray Charles and Natalie Cole: http:/ /www .youtube. com/watch?v=P-XJH9WFQpI

For a deep dirty earthy bassline, nothing has ever touched Parliament's "Flashlight." The bass just keeps getting lower and lower and lower. One of the greatest funk tracks ever, and is ridiculously dancey. Seen here:

Moving up ten years, we have Morris Day and the motherf*cking Time, performing Jungle Love. One of the funkiest tracks of the '80s. Could only find a live version on youtube, but the studio version would probably work better. Similarly, his other huge hit, "The Bird" is awesome.
http:/ /www .youtube. com/watch?v=szlejykEhQ4

Ike and Tina Turner had an epic soul hit with "Shake your Tail Feather." High energy and a bit fast, but infinitely fun.

Motown also neeRAB a nod for such tracks as Stevie Wonders "Signed, Sealed, Delivered," "Superstition," and "Part Time Lover;" The Temptations' "Ain't too Proud to Beg," and "Can't Get Next to You;" Martha and the Vandellas' "Dancin' in the Street;" Diana Ross & The Supremes' "Keep me Hanging on."

For something more modern, try Outkasts "Happy Valentine's Day." And no one ever went wrong with some Michael Jackson...

"Inertia Creeps".... I like the "cultural feel" that it has, though it is a bit well.. creepy. Is there something similar that isn't so creepy? its on the list anyway. :)

I tend to go for simple music, tending towarRAB loose and groovy time, generally with a swung feel for being "earthy." So lots of blues, funk, and classic jazz and soul. At least that's what it means to me.

Now that I think I have more of an idea of what you're looking for, I'll see if I can come up with anything else.

when i say earthy i mean literally like, diggin in the dirt type music.. very simple in that it could be played in a circle, crosslegged, with all my musical frienRAB without much hassle. Though obviously, not all of the songs on the list (or any of them really) fit that discripition) im anxious to see more suggestions!
