Enter H1N1.

Or at least use it on a t-shirt site to win cash and free gear. Several do it I think Jinx does it and I know 6dollartees does it.

I had an appointment at the VA clinic today, so I figured I'd call in a request for Tamiflu before I got there. My appointment was a psych appointment so I didn't mention anything to her. I was finally able to make enough of a nuisance of myself to the reception people that a nurse came out and told me that Tamiflu is not a preventative (even though it says in the literature that it is) and that the VA will only prescribe it if you're displaying symptoms.

So, despite my 100% verifiable exposure to the H1N1 virus, they refused to give me the medication that could treat any illness that could result from said exposure. If I wanted to push the issue, I'd have to drive an hour to the Muskogee VA hospital, go to the Emergency room, and have them test me for it there. Otherwise it comes out of pocket, and the VA will not reimburse me for it.

Yeah, kids tend to vomit and have diarrhea accompanied with theirs more often than adults do. It does affect them a lot more.

I hope she feels better soon, kid.

She seems to be OK, obviously sick..but OK. What's a little disturbing though, is the shortage of medicine available. The Doc prescribed liquid Tamaflu...the pharmacy was completely sold out of that (all others we called were out too), and had only one pkg of the pill version left. Luckily we were able to get the Doc to phone in a script for the pill version quickly enough.

Thanks for the well-wishes.
