Enough With the Michael Jackson Media Coverage?

How many of you agree this media coverage is getting ridiculous? He has had two weeks of non-stop media coverage on all the US networks and a televised memorial service (the likes of which are only reserved for former US Presidents, the Pope, and other major figures like Princess Diana and Mother Teresa).

Let Michael rest in peace. Yes, he was a cultural icon and talented artist, but his personal life was too controversial (his inappropriate relationships with children, sexual abuse allegations, drug use, plastic surgery, skin bleaching etc) for us to be venerating him in such a way. A house resolution for Jackson, are you kidding me? - comparing what the man did (in regards to race relations) with men like Gandhi and Martin Luther King Jr? It is getting ridiculous...

Aren't there more important news stories to cover?

President Obama's upcoming meeting with the Pope at the Vatican and first official visit to the African continent?
The ongoing healthcare debate in Congress?
Sotomayor's confirmation hearings?
The G-8 summit in Italy?
The ICC pushing an indictment of Omar al-Bashir and the corruption of the AU?
The ousting of Honduras' President?
Earthquake in China which killed 18,000 people?
Iranian election protests?
President Obama's meeting with Medvedv and Putin?
Potential cyber attack on US networks from North Korean hackers?
The ongoing wars in Iraq and Afghanistan that are getting worse?
They completely forgot about the death of former Secretary McNamara - a central architect of Vietnam War policy for the 1960s ---

Are all these stories not as important as having 24 hour news coverage and analysis on who gets custody of Jackson's three children whom he did not even father?

Do any of you agree?
