I have a random misfire on my 2001 Mercury Sable, but it only happens when the engine is cold, because after a few minutes it runs fine. However there seems to be a rattling noise coming from the engine is this related? The spark plugs and coils are fine so I was thinking the EGR valve is clogged or something could that be the cause?
Yes I should have mentioned the check engine light is on and it blinks when I start it when its cold, indicating a misfire, then it stops blinking but stays on after about a minute.
and the plug wires are new actually i believe
