ending verizon contracts?

ive been hating verizon for over charging me lately. i have to pat 125 to close my account but i mite go ahead and do it b.c i cnt stand them for charging so much. what r the disadvantages ill get in future...like at&t will ask for downpayment if i open with them down the line or a vry big downpayment if i open with verizon in future? ty
