Drunk driving is the tragedy that destroys many innocent lives on American roaRAB.Here another initiative that can go along with interlock devises new laws.It is lowering BAC from 0.8 to 0.0.The BAC 0.0 laws are very enforced in countries like Russia,Hungary, and some other places in the world.According to the reports, those 0.0 does work.If the motorist wants to have as single drink,she/he can't operate a vehicle in general, period. It is time for America to mandate this good law.Let us vote.

1) No one is 'innocent'.

2) You can get a BA level higher than 0.0 by drinking slightly fermented apple or grape juice.

3) The countries cited are pretty brutal...and I doubt that Russia, land of alcoholics, enforces the rules as you think. More likely, if a drunkard cases DAMAGES or HARM then they get the book tossed at them but, seriously...they are a land of semi-functional alcoholics.

4) Drunken Driving is fun to do. It combines the best of both drinking alcohilic beveridges and driving recklessly.

5) If you're so opposed to Drunken Drivers, why don't you don a black cape over black leotarRAB and go be a super crime fighter...laying down on streets near taverns and sordid bars so that the drunken patrons can't escape.
Muahahahaha. That'll show them...for about 15 mins.

This 0.0 law is enforced in Russia,as you call here as the land of alcoholics.Only few people there who violate this law.In other countries of the world this law also enforced and it gives good effects.I believe that America must to adopt this example along with placing enterlock devices. If people wish to have a drink,on this day they must forget about drivinh and drive the next day. This BAC 0.0 law must have three strikes.
1.$ 500 fine
2.$ 1,400 and night in jail
3.$ 3 mounths in jail and revocation of drivers licence for 2 years.
It will work.

Hi Hawk, literally 10s of millions of responsible married couples go out for dinner a couple of times a week in this country, every week of their marriage and like me, they will order a vodka martini or a cocktail of their choice. These people aren't the problem as they don't leave the restaurant drunk.

What neeRAB to be done is enforcing the laws on the books already and make sure that repeat offenders don't get behind the wheel after being convicted for DWI.

I don't condemn the responsible drinkers. But there is the law indeed in countries like I mentioned that prohibits any alcoholic consumption, when it comes with driving.Must be 0.0.The fact is that this law does work. Those married couples who got those small drinks in restaurants or bars got to walk home or use public transit like buses or streetcars.Dispite the disagreement of other people,we stand for 0.0 law as well as for interlock devises, also for other DUI bookings.

But I don't want to have to ride on a bus or in a smelly cab just because I had a cocktail at dinner Hawk, and I shouldn't be forced to take public transportation under those circumstances when my actions aren't the social problem we want to fix.

Especially since the real drunks will have no respect for the 0 tolerance laws any more than they have respect for the 0.08 laws. Interlock devices should be mandatory for all convicted drunk drivers but that will never happen because of the cost of the devices. And taking licenses away doesn't work for them because they continue to drive anyway. I've seen reports about convicted drunk drivers in Massachusetts with 15 arrests under their belts who have never spent a day in jail. With enforcement of existing laws like that, I'm not willing to give up my freedom of movement for having one drink at dinner.

First off, who is this we you always speak of? Please tell me there is not a whole group of you.

Second, many people don't have the "luxery" of public transportation available to them. Many people live too far away from the restaurant where the go out to eat to walk home. There is absolutely nothing wrong with someone having a drink or two at dinner and driving home afterward.

Good luck pushing your fascist ideas, they will never fly in America.

Lastly, could you learn to use 2 spaces after a period and a space following a comma? It makes your posts a whole lot easier to read, and helps you to appear as a more mature and intelligent poster.

He's talking about the poll at the top of the page you schmuck. And I would have no problem allowing the American people to vote on it in a national ballot initiative if some tiny self serving, immoral minority wasn't allowed to attempt to over ride the will of the people through crying, protesting churches and through judicial activism. You know, like the homosexual lobby did after losing out on Prop 8? :frazzled:

There is nothing fascist and communist. As far as I know that in countries like Hungary,Romania,Russia,Turkey this law that mandates 0.0 BAC has good effect.I just offer this model for America. It is nothing to do with hate or anything totalitarian.Any anti-DUI laws are not parts of paternalism, but moral values.

Stop being a rebelling fool and deal with the reality. The tiny minority can't override the will of the large majority.Try being respectful even you lost your NO to Prop 8 in California.

But it stays in Ukraine,Hungary,Arab Emirates, Romania, and Turkey.Still respected and enforced.Again,BAC 0.0 law is not a paternalism,it is a part of fighting drunk draving that was always a felony.Prohibition of alcohol is a paternalism.

I'm not endorsing drunk driving and nobody else here is. We are opposing a zero tolerance policy which will punish the people who aren't the problem in the first place, when the true offenders will ignore 0 tolerance just as they ignore the existing limitations in the law.

I would endorse strict prison time for people caught driving with a BAC above .12 for example, but not 0 tolerance as it is oppressive in a free society. All you want to do is create any correlation you can find to compare this with your slimy demanRAB and I'm not going to play that game.

But if you do want to go that route, how about we adopt the same laws for homosexuals which exist in around 50 other countries where gays are either imprisoned or executed just for being homosexual. Do you want to go there Matthew? You have some nerve implying that my opinion is immoral given your lifestyle.

This got nothing to do with laughing. There are people in the USA who say that 0.00 law is a good law and a brilliant idea of those who lobby for it.Nothing is insane and funny.
