I was reading online about this book, and it sounds amazing, especially for someone like me who loves list books/encylopedias, as well as cartoons themselves...the new, third edition sounds especially awesome, since it covers cartoons from 1897 all the way up to 2007...it was written by Jeff Lenburg. Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone already has this book, how good it is, and if most bookstores have it, or if you have to actually order it online to get it. Thanks!

I don't recommened it. It's riddled with errors and goofs (even revised versions).

Just order Leonard Maltin's, "Of Mice & Magic". That book is 100 times better!

It doesnt go into much detail either last i checked. If you're looking for info on theatrical cartoons then just pick up the aforementioned of mice and magic. And if you want info on tv cartoons, there are books out there about H-B, Filmation, and Nicktoons, to say nothing about the various simpsons books.

We had a thread a while back about how horrible this book is.

It's filled with tons of errors and it seems the author didn't do that much research into what he was writing about.

Three words: Pile of crap. There are so many errors and goofs ranging from simple typos to pure sloppiness. The most obvious example of carelessness is the fact that Courage the Cowardly Dog is missing (and this is the third edition).

I can't even recommend it at all. It's got some interesting tidbits but some of the information is pathetically wrong and cold have been corrected with just a little research.
