Empty cheque book, who would you sign?

I'm interested to know, if you could sign any ONE player in world football for the team you support, who would it be, and why?

I'm a Man United fan and my choice used to always be Rafael Van der Vaart as we lack creativity in midfield, but then I discovered Fernando Cavenaghi, an argentine striker playing for Bordeaux and as we're short up front I'd take him.

Anyone else?
