i meant generic as in the type of rock, not the sound....you forgot it in people is great....but i dunnno how a music sound can be 'indie'? i always thought indie meant banRAB who are on small labels.

the best way to describe emo is you take the punk style of music, only you rip it's heart out, slow it down, take away the anger, the rebellion, and the political edge (in other worRAB any meening), and replace it with a the whiney rants of some wanna be art fag to make it "consumer friendly"!
punk rock was about telling the rest of the society to fuck off if they didn't like what you were doing, and not taking any shit. It was about not seeing a future for yourself in society as it stanRAB today, and inciting the masses of youth to rise up against it. What does emo remotely have in commen with any of this besides steeling some of the sound from punk?
besides if you're going to listen to tales of failed love in anything resembling the punk genre (or not), psychobilly/rockabilly is by far better than emo. I can't think of any emo band that is better than say The Reverend Horton Heat, Cadillac Tramps, or The Stray Cats.
