If it a sensor that will allow unburned fuel to get to the catalytic converter that is playing up then you could possibly wreck the catalyst.
The first thing you have to do is find out what is wrong with it and you can get fault code readers for some makes - not sure about yours you will need to search for them.
If you cannot get a fault code reader and the fault is otherwise not obvious you will have to get a Suzy dealer to diagnose it on their computer for you.
Once you have the fault you could opt to replace the offending part yourself or get the dealer to just carry on and do it.

Some of the things it could be, like the lambda sensor or the crank sensor, can be underneath and hard to get at and deal with the wiring.

Good luck with that

Its best to get the engine diagnosed to see what error codes come up, its probably a simple sensor failure but if unburned fuel is allowed to enter the cat you will need to replace it.
Ja.

if your car has been serviced correctly and still under 3 yrs old, should still be under warranty, other than that you should take it to either your local suzuki dealer to diagnoseit properly, cost should be arround £80 to diagnose plus any parts and additional labour to fit parts. or take to an independant who specialise in jap cars who are able to read the dtcs and diagnose,
light could be on for numerous reasons, mostly related to emmisions
