Emerging dilemma...

You're just the kinda guy that I was hoping to net with my post. Please do give me some feedback on how you like it compared to the 10r. Given that we had the exact same bike it will obviously be helpful...

Went with the S I see...way too rich for my blood (ie my wife's blood LOL). If I went with the 1198 it would have to be the base...

Lookin forward to your initial thoughts/comparison...

I would particularly be interested to see how much better, if at all, the 1198 handles compared to the 06 10r...

Problem solved...

I just bought a leftover new 2008 1098s with slip-on termis. Got me a good price on it because they wanted to move it...

So I guess in the end I took the average between an 848 and 1198 .

A 2009 1198s would cost me $5000 more. The traction control would have been cool and all but it was 5k I just wasn't willing to spend...

Dirt cheap huh...I would get a quote 1st if I were you. If you don't mind, pm me your insurance company. I'd be laughing if I were paying what you're paying and I'm riding 30+ years, clean record and yes, I've shopped around..

You have to have everything with them and have a clean record and of course experience...I've got my house, life insurance, both my cars, insurance on my wife's jewelry etc with them...

They go based on CC size only, at least in Canada. They do not distinguish between an 1100 low rider or an 1100 superbike, as long as you meet the criteria stated immediately above...

What are you paying?

Oh, I have no idea man...I literally just reached a deal on the bike a few hours ago...

They took the bike off the floor for me this afternoon, and I go in on Monday to drop a 5k deposit. Then a couple weeks from there I take delivery.

Unfortunately I'm kinda screwed. My garage is full of garbage and old furniture and stuff which should be moved out shortly. I literally have no place to store it until then. My 10r is actually still in storage at this dealership.

No biggy, because up until the last couple days there was still tons of salt and gravel on the roads in my area. Only now are things starting to shape up...

Please let me know how you like yours and I will do the same...

I got the 1098s for 500 bucks over what I would have payed for an 09 1198 base. For me the 1098s was a better value.
